Information Sharing and Assessment initiative
ISA stems from a need for professional services to work together effectively and to pool their knowledge of children and young people so that services are better planned and delivered.
It is one element of the government's response to the Victoria Climbie inquiry and is part of the development of local preventative strategies which shift the focus of services for vulnerable children towards prevention and early intervention. It is a key element of the Every Child Matters/Change for Children agenda.
The Children's Strategic Partnership is committed to the delivery of the specific ISA requirements.
Key developments include:
- The development of a national child. Information sharing index (to be known as ContactPoint)
- Maintaining a Service Directory providing comprehensive information on local providers, eligibility criteria, geographical location and referral procedures. It has been commissioned through the Children's Information Services of Dorset Sure Start.
- A Protocol for information sharing covering agencies providing services to children and young people. The Dorset Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership has developed an over arching data protection protocol and guidance alongside the partnerships for Bournemouth and Poole, recognising the Pan-Dorset nature of many agencies who serve children.
- Development of a common assessment framework and lead professional guidance for all practitioners who have contact with vulnerable children..
Please follow the links on the right for more details of these key developments.
