Weymouth and Portland Local Development Framework

The Weymouth and Portland Local Plan 2005 was, until 2011, being gradually replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF). The replacement to the existing Adopted Weymouth and Portland Local Plan is now being taken forward through a joint Local Plan covering both Weymouth & Portland and West Dorset.

When adopted, the joint Local Plan will replace the two councils existing adopted Local Plans.  Work done so far on the two Local Development Frameworks, including the research and consultation results, will inform the preparation of the new plan. Work on advancing the Core Strategy and Town Centre Area Action plan have now ceased and will instead be taken forward through the Local Plan.
