Computers in libraries
Library computers are free of charge for up to 30 minutes in one session, per day. Further use is charged at £1 per half an hour or part thereof.
To manage the impact of the charges for certain categories of users, the charging policy and structure allows young people under the age of eighteen and students in full-time education to use the computers free of charge for a maximum of two hours per day. Everyone else will be charged at the standard rate and limited to three hours per day. In smaller libraries, different conditions of use may apply, to ensure fair and equal access.
Dorset Library Service's computer booking system, Netloan, allows you to book your own sessions to suit your convenience. Netloan helps to provide fair and equal access to the computers in Dorset's libraries.
You can book sessions up to a week in advance, either on the computer in your local library or by contacting the library - but to use the booking system and the computers you will need to be a library member. Membership is free so why not join now?
A number of other sites have become UKOnline centres, where anyone can access the internet. The DfES has a link to an interactive listing of these sites. Use the UKOnline centres website, enter your postcode and find your nearest internet access site.
