Local Involvement Networks (LINks)

The Local Involvement Network (LINk) is a new initiative being launched in Dorset to give local people a greater say in the running of local health and social care services.

There will be a broad range of methods, from public meetings and focus groups to online questionnaires and voting via mobile phones, where residents can voice their opinions and give new ideas which may influence changes to the way local health and social care services are delivered.

Dorset County Council has appointed Help and Care, a local charity that has worked with communities for 22 years, as the host organisation.

The role of the host organisation is to set up an effective LINk, independent of councils and NHS trusts, which will involve everyone in the community.  Help and Care will set up the LINk, provide support, information and advice and build the foundation on which the LINks service will grow.

Mark Sharman, the Chief Executive of Help and Care said - "The LINk has the potential to grow into an extremely powerful group that can lobby for change and influence important decisions on health and social care services provided for people living in Dorset"
