Love food hate waste

The local authorities in Dorset are supporting Wrap's national campaign, Love Food Hate Waste.

Every year in the UK we throw away a staggering one third of all the food we buy. Love Food Hate Waste - a campaign from the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) - highlights the fact that wasted food is a waste of money and a major contributor to climate change. And the most frustrating thing is most of what we throw away could have been eaten - it's not just peelings, tea bags and bones!

The Love Food Hate Waste website provides delicious recipes to make the most of the food in our fruit bowl, fridge and cupboards. It gives handy hints for storing food, surprising facts on what can be frozen and much more. Visit Love Food Hate Waste (opens in a new window) where you can find out some handy hints for saving food waste as well as some delicious recipes.

Look out for our roadshows around Dorset (accompanied by some very large inflatable fruit), where we will be handing out free cookbooks.  Please note that the Best Leftovers Cook in Dorset competition has now finished. Our winners were:
