Market days and farmers' markets
There are plenty of markets to visit in Dorset. They sell a variety of fine food and drink produced in the county and an array of products ranging from hardware items to clothes and soft furnishings.
For details about the days which Dorset's weekly and farmers markets are held, go to the Visit Dorset (opens in a new window) website.
Markets are held on Thursdays and Saturdays each week in the Market Place throughout the year. Trading hours are between 8.30am and 4.30pm with a variety of goods being sold, these may include food, luggage, clothing or household goods.
There are 21 pitches each measuring 10 foot by 16 foot, the charge per pitch is £18.50 per day.
Applications for pitches can be made through the Market Superintendent who will ensure that traders have a suitable stall and meet any other necessary requirements for the goods to be sold. Market regulations (pdf, 199kb) (opens in a new window) are in place to ensure that conditions are maintained, including suitable insurance or food hygiene requirements, by each stall holder.
Held in the centre of town with convenient parking it encourages visitors to other outlets around the town, along with many places for refreshments or light snacks.
For further information please contact the Market Superintendent (01305 228110).
