Minerals and waste development scheme

The minerals and waste development scheme (MWDS) sets out the council's programme for the preparation of its minerals and waste development plans.

The  current Minerals and Waste Development Scheme (pdf, 284kb) (opens in a new window) was published in July 2012. It makes a public statement as to which minerals and waste development plan documents will be produced and the timetable for their preparation.

The MWDS has two main roles:

  • It provides the first point of reference for local communities and stakeholders to find out about the council's timetable for the preparation of minerals and waste development documents over a three-year period and beyond

  • It establishes a commitment to the county council's priorities and the work programme for minerals and waste development documents in partnership with Communities and Local Government and the Planning Inspectorate (PINS)

The development scheme has been approved by each of the three authorities (Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole) to which it applies. It is kept under review to assess progress in meeting its key milestones and the need for additional documents. Any formal amendments to the scheme will be published on this site.

Update to Development Scheme

An amendment to the Minerals and Waste Development Scheme (pdf, 78kb) (opens in a new window)  was published in February 2013, which updates the key milestone dates for the plan stages of the Minerals Core Strategy.
