Entertainment

Places used for public entertainment often, but not always, require a licence from the council. Any licence will usually include conditions to limit its impact on local residents.

If a noise nuisance is found to exist at a licensed premises, officers will advise the management informally of the problem and encourage them to take voluntary action to resolve the situation.

Where this approach is unsuccessful we can serve an abatement notice to control the noise.  In addition, licensed premises that are the the cause of a statutory nuisance are reported to the licensing committee. An adverse report may influence their decision to renew or grant further licences to the licensee.
