Tender process for Dorset Passenger Transport

Dorset County Council

Dorset County Council has changed the way it buys its transport services.

Dorset Passenger Transport (DPT) re-tendered every one of its contracts at the same time, this enables routes to be packaged together to give better value for money.

This means a better deal for people who use or provide transport.

DPT is continuously looking at the way it uses its own fleet and depot.

Dorset Passenger Transport's services include:

  • Home to school and college transport

  • Adult services (day care and other needs)

  • Special educational needs transport

  • Community transport

  • Adult social care

  • Children social care

  • Children out of school

  • Subsidised public transport

This new way of procuring transport services will develop longer-term partnerships with transport providers who are committed to working with the county council to improve services.
