Procurement - contract lists at West Dorset District Council

Whether you call it selling, purchasing, procurement, contracting or tendering, this page is designed to help guide you through the opportunities that exist for doing business with West Dorset District Council.

To help potential suppliers and contractors find out about our contracts, the Dorset Procurement Sustainable Procurement Strategy 2011-2014 (pdf, 470kb) (opens in a new window) explains our strategic purchasing objectives and what is expected of you when undertaking work for the council.

We offer contracts for a wide range of works, goods and services but also use collaborative arrangements with other council or Government agencies. Further information about our contract monitoring and review requirements will be found in the Contract Regulations (pdf, 522kb) (opens in a new window) .

The council uses approved lists of suppliers and contractors for some of its procurement needs (mainly engineering and construction works or building maintenance). The lists are reviewed and re-advertised from time to time.

We wish to develop effective relationships with suppliers both large and small, private and voluntary. The Concordat for small and medium sized enterprises (pdf, 63kb) (opens in a new window)  sets out the council's commitment to encourage effective trade with small businesses.

Current contracts that West Dorset District Council has in place are recorded in the contracts register (pdf, 191kb) (opens in a new window) .

supply2.gov.uk (opens in a new window)  is the Government's national lower-value procurement portal where once registered, you will receive daily email alerts containing relevant tender opportunities and promote your company to the public sector. The website aims to provide SMEs with visibility of Government tender opportunities below the OJEU thresholds (typically below £100,000) to encourage them to sell to Government - a huge potential market which can provide the stability SMEs need to thrive and grow.
