New recycle for Dorset collection service

Councils are working together to introduce a new recycling and rubbish collection service for Dorset.

The 'recycle for Dorset' service started in North Dorset and part of East Dorset on Monday 10 June.  The Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP) is aware of a number of issues regarding late delivery of containers by our contractor and non- or incomplete delivery of information packs, including calendars.

We apologise sincerely for this. If you have already reported a problem to us, please be assured our response teams are working hard to resolve it as quickly as possible. You can now check your new collection dates by using the My Local postcode search (opens in a new window) .

If you have not received your containers by your first collection day, you can put out black sacks for rubbish, boxes for recycling and, if you have a garden waste collection, untied sacks or boxes of garden waste.

    • Recycling collection
    • Recycling is collected fortnightly using a 240-litre wheelie bin, a box for glass and a battery bag.
    • Rubbish collection
    • Rubbish that can't be recycled is collected fortnightly using a 140-litre wheelie bin.
    • Food waste collection
    • Food waste is collected every week using a lockable outdoor bin and a small kitchen caddy.
    • Garden waste collection
    • You can pay for an optional, fortnightly garden waste collection in areas where 'recycle for Dorset' is used.
    • Flats and shared house collection
    • We will be visiting flats and other shared housing to look at the options for communal collection facilities.
