Schools recycling scheme
A recycling scheme is offered to all Dorset County Council schools.
The scheme is part of the DCC waste disposal and recycling contract which started in April 2008.
It offers a range of recycling options operated by SITA UK and Perry's. The options provide a choice of storage containers (bags or wheeled bins), and includes the collection of a wide range of materials including paper, drink & food cans, plastic bottles, cardboard and drinks cartons.
Both SITA UK and Perry's require the collection of segregated recyclables into clear plastic bags prior to collection.
Batteries can also be collected by Batteryback.
It would be worthwhile contacting your local district council to see if they can offer your school a kerbside recycling collection. This Dorset County Council scheme will help if your district council is unable to collect, or if your school would like to recycle certain materials that the district councils cannot accept.
