Household rubbish collection in Christchurch

Christchurch provides a weekly refuse collection as well as a fortnightly recycling service for residents within the borough.

Refuse collection

Christchurch provides a weekly refuse collection. It is the responsibility of the householder to make sure the refuse is bagged up securely to ensure a collection. To find out your refuse collection day, please refer to the refuse look up list on the right of this page.

Refuse must be presented by 7am on the day of collection.

If refuse bags are split by animals, the householder is responsible for clearing it up. If the crew spills the refuse whilst carrying the bags and disposing of them, they should ensure all rubbish is removed. Please remember the refuse is your responsibility until the collectors have collected it.

Your refuse will not be collected if:

• It is found that you are a business

• You are placing garden waste in your bags

• Your bin is defective or it is dangerous for the operator to move

• If an animal is loose in the garden

If you have broken glass or ceramics you wish to dispose of, please ensure that they are safely and securely wrapped, marked with "Broken Glass" or similar and left on top of the bin or bags.

Has your refuse been missed?

If your refuse has been missed please complete the online missed bin form or telephone our Missed Bin Hotline on (01202) 495000.

If you notify us of missed refuse before 12 noon it will be collected on the same working day. Missed refuse reported after 12 noon will be collected the following working day.

Bank Holiday collections

On most Bank Holidays collection will be as normal. However at Christmas this may not be the case, depending on the availability of disposal sites. For more information please visit the Bank Holiday collections page.
