Domestic waste collection in West Dorset
We provide a weekly refuse collection from each domestic property. Refuse should be placed in a rubbish bin at the kerbside by 7.30am on collection day.
Collection
In some areas refuse should be left in a suitable container such as a dustbin. This will stop animals/gulls from attacking your waste. Please do not put waste out overnight in plastic sacks or cardboard boxes.
Refuse remains the responsibility of the householder until it is collected.
Refuse collections will continue as usual over bank holidays, except for Christmas and New Year. These arrangements will appear on this page towards the end of the year.
Your refuse and recycling needs to be out by 7.30am on your collection day. In West Dorset, refuse is collected weekly. Kerbside recycling bags and boxes are collected every two weeks on the same day as your refuse.
If your refuse was put out on time but not collected, please complete the online missed bin form.
Assisted collection
This service is available for householders who have difficulty putting their waste out for collection due to disability or age. Residents who wish to apply for this service should contact the council in advance with their details. Once details have been taken, a member of staff will visit to confirm the need, location and means of access.
