What is Flickr?

www.flickr.com (opens in a new window)  is an online photo management and sharing application which allows you to upload your personal photos, organise them and publish them for the world to see!

How does it work?

Simply sign up online. For this, you will need to  create a 'Yahoo' ID (opens in a new window) and afterwards, sign in with your username and password to access your account.

You are then free to upload images from your computer, organise photos, tag them, search for images from other Flickr users, save favourites and plenty more.

How do I join the dorsetforyou.com Flickr group?

Once you have logged into your Flickr account, visit  our dorsetforyou.com Flickr group (opens in a new window) and click 'join this group' under the title.

You will be prompted to agree to our terms and conditions, and then you are officially a member!

How do I add my images to your group?

On our main group page, click 'add something?' and select the images from the thumbnails of your own collection on Flickr. You can add 6 images at a time, and a maximum of 15 images per day. Please geo-tag them before submitting. 

Once your images are submitted, they will wait in a queue to be approved by our administrators, and will then appear in our group's photostream.

For users creating new accounts, you must have a minimum of 5 images in your photostream for these images to appear in a group. 

Why join the dorsetforyou.com Flickr group?

By joining our group - you can upload your images taken anywhere in the county and share them with the public. We hope the end result will be a comprehensive online showcase of the county's unique landscapes.

What is geo-tagging?

This is a way of geographically mapping where a photo was taken in Dorset for our groups personal Flickr map (opens in a new window) .

By telling us where you took your photo, selected images can then appear on this website in the future. It's also a great way of viewing all the beautiful locations in Dorset taken by all the group members in one go!

How do I geo-tag my image?

To  geo-tag (opens in a new window) a photo just click "Add to your map" on the chosen photo page.

To work with more than one image you can open up the Organizr Map and drag and drop photos from the Findr bar at the bottom, to the location where you took the photos.
