Supported Housing for Vulnerable People

Supporting People Logo

Do you need help to live independently? Supporting People funds housing related support services to vulnerable people to enable them to live independently in the community.

Through the Supporting People programme, Dorset County Council funds a range of support services which aim to help vulnerable people live independently in the community.

These services include:

  • Sheltered housing and extra care housing for Older People
  • Supported housing for a wide range of other client groups
  • Services which can be delivered to people in their own homes (such as "Floating Support" services or Home Improvement Agencies)

The County Council also funds care and support services for some groups (particularly people with a Learning Disability) from its community care budgets, outside the Supporting People programme.

For an interactive Directory of Supporting People services in Dorset, please go to Supporting People Service Directory.

The Supporting People programme is overseen by a partnership of the County Council, six district/borough councils, Probation and NHS Dorset.

The Supporting People Partnership Strategy 2012 to 2015 (pdf, 203kb) (opens in a new window) was revised during 2011/12.
