Sustainable Transport
Transport accounts for 30% of Dorset's carbon emissions. The county council has a number of initiatives and tools in place to help people and businesses to reduce the amount of carbon generated through travel. These include promoting sustainable travel through Workplace Travel Plans, ensuring that people have the information they need to make the right travel choice for each journey and helping people to reduce the amount they need to travel at all.

Travel Choice
Travel Choice is the new name for Dorset Travelwise. This is a county-wide initiative to raise awareness about the impacts of their travel behaviour and to encourage people to make an informed decision about each journey - that is to make the right Travel Choice.

Active and sustainable travel to school
When you ask a child how they would like to travel to and from school the overwhelming response is that they want to walk, cycle or scooter. So why then do we see such high levels of car use on the school run and all the associated difficulties this creates? Equally what can be done about it?
- Guidance on travel plans fees
Travel plans are an essential tool for making new developments more sustainable. They provide the means for developers and future occupiers to encourage employees, residents, visitors, guests and customers to reduce private car use.
