Tap water challenge
Save money, waste and energy by going back to the tap.
Tap water is just as good as bottled water and it's better for the environment, so why not rediscover the taste of clean, fresh tap water. Whether you're going for a walk, playing sport or just out and about, you can save yourself money and quench your thirst by using a refillable water bottle. It's also a good idea to keep a jug of water chilling in the fridge.
Tap water is:
- Safe, clean and fresh
- Has a low carbon footprint
- Generates no packaging waste
- Is very cheap at less than 1p per litre
And, did you know that 2.7 million tonnes of plastic are used to bottle water each year?
As part of a campaign to highlight the importance of reusing and recycling plastic bottles, and to encourage more people to turn back to drinking tap water, the Dorset Reduction and Recycling Group are calling for people to give bottles the boot in favour of tap water.
A new campaign encouraging residents to drink more water is being run Dorset County Council and NHS Dorset. For more information visit our 'Stay Healthy - Just Add Water' page.
