Traffic Regulation Orders
Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) are required to introduce and implement disabled parking bays, speed limits, waiting restrictions, residents parking and on-street pay and display schemes.
They have to follow a legal procedure which includes:
Consultation
Public advertisement of draft notice and deposit of documents
Drafting of order
Authority to proceed (delegated authority or Roads and Rights of Way Committee/Cabinet)
Making of order
Getting a Traffic Regulation Order introduced
Members of the public need to channel their requests through their parish or town council, Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, or Christchurch Borough Council where appropriate. Dorset County Council does not accept requests to introduce restrictions. from members of the public.
