Guidance on travel plans fees

Travel plans are an essential tool for making new developments more sustainable. They provide the means for developers and future occupiers to encourage employees, residents, visitors, guests and customers to reduce private car use.

From 1 May 2011, Dorset County Council will provide a full travel plans service to help applicants who are required to implement a travel plan as a condition or obligation of planning consent. The council will charge a fee for this service, the travel plans fee, which becomes due through a s106 obligation attached to the planning consent. The travel plans fee therefore only becomes payable in relation to successful planning applications.

More information about what the service offers and what the fee covers can be found in our  Travel Plans Fees guidance (pdf, 2Mb) (opens in a new window) .
