Vandalism - prevention measures

Vandalism is an illegal, anti-social activity that creates a negative impression of an area and contributes to people's fear of crime.

We aim to prevent vandalism in the area by using CCTV, wardens and improved street lighting. We can provide advice and information on what local people can do to stop vandals and how to tell us about vandalism. Where the vandalism has taken place on council property we will carry out repairs.

Vandalism on the highway

Objects such as benches and seats on the highway, street lights, lighted bollards and road signs are the responsibility of Dorset County Council. If you wish to report an incident in West Dorset, East Dorset or North Dorset please use the county council's contact details below.

In Christchurch, Christchurch Borough Council has an agreement to repair and maintain benches and seats on the highway, street lights, lighted bollards and road signs on behalf of Dorset County Council. If one of these is vandalised in Christchurch please use the contact details below.
