Transport schemes in Weymouth and Portland:

    The Weymouth Relief Road is now open. It is a single carriageway road, with crawler lane along part of it, linking the A354 Manor Roundabout near Radipole to the A354 at the top of Ridgeway Hill.

    The Weymouth Transport Package for the 2012 Games is a series of long-term public transport improvements which will provide a transport legacy for Weymouth and Portland after the Games.

    This is a Sustrans Connect2 project with funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

    The Marsh Route will link Budmouth Technology College to the Rodwell Trail on Newstead Road.

    The Redlands Route will run from Upwey Railway Station to the bottom of Monmouth Avenue, where it will link up with the Lodmoor Country Park cycleways.

    The Eastern Route will link Radipole Park Drive cycleway to Preston Beach Road cycleway and footway.

    The Portland Beach Road route will improve the shared-use footway/cycleway between the Rodwell Trail at Ferrybridge and the Chesil Beach Visitors' Centre.

    As a result of changes at the Wyke Road junction with Rodwell Road it was necessary to make improvements to the Portland Road junction with Wyke Road.

    The county council is reviewing current traffic signals within the Lanehouse corridor to assess existing capacity issues and the impact they will have on the network following the completion of the Weymouth Transport Package.

    As part of the two major projects currently being constructed in Weymouth, the Weymouth Relief Road and the Weymouth Transport Package, the signing around Weymouth will be changed to better reflect the new road network.

  • CYCLE West - Consultation on Ferry Terminal to Westham Bridge Cycle Route

    As part of the CYCLE West project to promote the channel region of SW England and NW France as a venue for cycle tourism, Dorset County Council received funding from the EU INTERREG Channel IV Manche programme to improve route NCN 2 across the county and route NCN 26 between Weymouth and Dorchester.
