The Ancient Technology Centre
Learn ancient skills in an authentic landscape, from building ancient structures to blacksmithing and fire-making.
We believe that children should explore their surroundings, environment and history through an exciting blend of full scale building projects and traditional skills and crafts. Children and adults who visit us perform authentic, seasonal tasks which maintain our farmstead. Our activities and buildings are based on archaeological evidence from a range of periods including:
- The Stone Age
- Bronze Age
- Iron Age (Celtic)
- Anglo Saxon
- Viking eras
We can provide residential accommodation for up to 36 children or young people (plus staff) in our stunning Longhouse.
"I can't eulogise enough about how brilliant the whole experience is! In eighteen years of teaching it's the best trip I've been on!"
