The Children's Services directorate provides support to meet the needs of children and young people in Dorset.

Service structures and responsibilities are as follows:-
The services that were given by the old Education directorate and those services given by the Social Care and Health directorate are now provided by one directorate for children and young people - Children's Services.
The aim is for every child, whatever the background or circumstances, to have the support they need to:

- stay safe
- enjoy and achieve
- make a positive contribution
- achieve economic well-being
