What the garden waste service costs (2015/16)

  • A 240-litre wheelie bin in 2015/16 costs £41 a year
  • A year's supply of compostable sacks (for properties unable to use wheelie bins only) costs £31 a year

2015/16 price

The price of the garden waste service is reviewed annually by the DWP Joint Committee. The price for 2016/17 has been agreed as £45 for a 240-litre wheelie bin and will come into effect from 1 August for a service starting April 2016.

When your garden waste service will start

There are two subscription periods each year, starting in April and September. Your bin will be delivered in time for your collections to start.

If you subscribe now, you will pay the current price (£41) and your service will start in September 2015.

If you pay from 1 August 2015, you will pay the new price (£45) and your service will start in April 2016.

You can still compost your garden waste at home or take it to a household recycling centre free of charge.

The garden waste we collect is recycled to produce compost.
